Collagen Peptides

Who else is loving this summer heat? My favorite treat to cool off with during these warm afternoons is an ice-cold smoothie. Lately I have been adding a little something special to my smoothies: Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides!

Collagen PeptidesCollagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, found in the bones, muscles, skin, and tendons – essentially holding our body together. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein, but the body’s collagen production slows with age and modern lifestyle factors like stress and gut imbalances.

I started including the collagen peptides in my diet as I am on a mission to repair intestinal permeability and boost nutrient intake overall. Vital Proteins collagen has been shown to support healthy digestion and restore gut health. (1) Collagen helps break down proteins and soothes your gut’s lining, healing damaged cell walls and infusing it with healing amino acids. (2img_5218

Highly digestible and nutrient dense, Vital Proteins collagen peptides are derived from gelatin, containing all the essential amino acids, yet able to dissolve in hot or cold beverages immediately without gelling. This makes for a perfect beverage supplement. I even add a scoop to my coffee occasionally. It is completely flavorless and odorless so there is no worry there!

Aside from the digestive benefits, collagen is well-known to support skin elasticity as well as nail and hair health. It also improves joints, ligaments, and tendons as well as builds muscle and repairs tissue! This is definitely helpful as I have taken up running again since baby was born.

To recap, collagen benefits gut health, skin, nails and hair, as well as joints and muscles. I plan to keep adding this to my diet and look forward to the results!
